This piercing is the type very close to the lip just below the lower lip and above the chin. This piercing is also referred to as tongue pillar by many people around the world because it has been pierced though the lower lip.

General lip piercing and labret piercing does not differ by a little too much. The labret and the jaws are adjusted in a way as to avoid the collision of the needle with the jaw avoiding all possible damages that might occur with them. The needles are even attached to the jewelry that one needs to wear in the labret as to do the complete job in just one go ensuring no errors that might come up with after the whole process is done.

The piercing type is further divided into three different types that might attract people from different backgrounds. These include spider bites, viper bites and snakebites namely. The snake bite is also two piercing but at two different sides of the lips giving the snake type orientations. The viper bite is similar to the spider bite yet only the distance between the two pierce differ. The gaps are wider as compared.

The labret piercing is similar to the other types of piercing trends that have a detailed history with relations to different civilizations of the past. Labret piercing is basically from the Mayan and Aztec civilizations back in history where status was symbolized by this piercing. This was the only piercing in the history that was exclusively for men and no women were allowed to practice this. Different tribes had different ways of wearing the labret ornaments according to their cultures and norms. These different orientations symbolized different types of backgrounds that the tribesmen belonged to.

This piercing needs extra care beyond just the normal trends that have been shown by people around the world. The healing takes around 2-3 months being accompanied with the use of an antiseptic solution. The use of saline solution as the best antiseptic is highly appreciated and experts suggest that one should wash the pierce with saline water once a day at least so that no germs can get room in the region making the pierce a safe one.
