Ears and noses have cartilages, and when these are pierced, bumps around the openings of the piercing begin to appear. Cartilage piercing can get irritated and may develop pus and abscesses. Here are a few tips in treating these bumps:
1. Soak the scars daily in warm sea salt, using 1/8 teaspoon for every 8 oz of water. Using cotton balls, you can swab the affected area with the solution. The bumps are normally the same color as the skin and often do not go beyond the area surrounding the piercing.
2. You can also use chamomile tea bags as a warm compress. Use these tea bags alternately with the sea salt soaks but make sure that you rinse with water after doing the procedure.
3. Try changing your jewelry to something more comfortable. There are titanium or glass jewelries which are suitable for piercings but make sure that you consult a professional first before doing so.
4. If your bumps are filled with abscesses or pus, you can treat them using hot compress. You may use plain water or the above mentioned soaks using sea salt. You can use these twice a day until the boil begins to subside.
5. Make sure that you drain the pus out of the boil and you keep it clean by using sea salts.
6. Use a cotton swab to remove any formations of crust.
7. You may also use tea tree oil for up to 5 days if you have difficulty in getting rid of scars and boils.
8. You can also crush an uncoated aspirin tablet and add some lemon to make a paste. You will apply this to the bump so as to get rid of its thick scarring appearance. Afterward you will need to let it dry for a time and then to wash it off with clean water.
9. A sea salt spray can be used if you want to keep these cartilage piercing bumps from recurring.
will it matter if you use lemon or lime? & do you leave in the earring while doing so?
